Following the appointment of AKP’s Melih Bulu as “trustee rector” to Boğaziçi University, 43 people, including 3 of our comrades from the Anarchist Youth, were detained after the protests in Istanbul. The students faced police terror, police violence, torture in reverse handcuffs, sexual violence and threats for a total of 3 days. 43 people were released after their statements at Çağlayan Istanbul Courthouse on January 7 and 8. Friends and comrades of those who were taken into custody outside during their time in the Courthouse made statements of solidarity.

Solidarity actions were also held in Ankara to support the trusteeship rector actions. The police wanted to prevent the solidarity action that university students wanted to do in Güvenpark on January 8th. The police, who blockaded the squares and the streets of the houses where the students lived, under the pretext of gbt and attacked the protest, detained more than 40 students, including 5 of our comrades from Karala. Those detained in the evening were released. A student’s leg was broken as a result of police violence. In addition, solidarity actions were held in various cities with the acts of the trustee rector.

During this period, the government frightened the youth’s growing struggle and solidarity against the trustee rector. Although he attacked with the ruling police for fear of the demonstrations that thousands of students participated, he could not scare the youth.

The youth continues to walk on the power with courage.

The friends and comrades of the detained made statements of solidarity outside the Courthouse.

Solidarity manifestatons were also held in Ankara to support the demonstrations against the trustee rector. The police wanted to prevent the solidarity manifestation that university students wanted to do at Güvenpark on 8 January. The police, who blockaded the squares and the streets of the houses they lived in, under the pretext of GBT (Routine Police Control) and attacked the manifestation and detained more than 40 students, including 5 of our comrades from Karala. Those detained in the evening were released. One of the students who was taken into custody, had broke his leg due to the police violence. Solidarity demonstrations were also held in various cities to support the manifestations against the trustee rector.

During this period, the government was frightened because of the youth’s growing struggle and solidarity against the trustee rector. Thousands of students participated in the protests, even if the Power attacked the youth with it’s police.

The Youth continues it’s walk against the Power with courage.
